Description:
For those who love the feel of a classic wakeskate but want it in a bigger more efficient package for use behind the kite and/or on a boat/cable/winch.
The Planq is a continuation of the kite-wakeskate development Alex Lewis-Hughes has undertaken over the past twenty years. Trying different rocker types, heights, widths, tip-shapes and more he’s ended up (unsurprisingly) at a similar place to many other wake skaters; this board as such is very close in shape and rocker to other leading Wakeskate brands such as WaterMonsters, Fattitesi, etc, just in a more Kiteboarding accommodative length and width for added surface area (easier planning).
The rocker is a classic Wakeskate 3-stage, un-intuitively a 3-stage rocker in this size and style of board actually rides better than a constant or hybrid rocker does, this is something that took Alex a few years to figure out as logic would suggest that not to be the case, a classic 3-stage also gives you added pop and snap over a more constant curved rocker line.
This board has inserts for Nubbs/Udders/Lock-ins ready to go you just need to drill them out where you want them. We don't drill them out because some people don't want to ride them and not all Nubbs have the same spacing.
"Nubbs" for those that are wondering are the things you can put on the bottom of your board to lock into park features like a regular skateboard truck would.
This new Planq closely resembles Alex’s last two Wakeskates made in conjunction with Axis Kiteboarding, it’s almost a hybrid of the two shapes. Compared to the last shape (Green Eye Graphic) it’s a touch narrower in the tips and with an added bit of rocker. This board much closer accommodates those looking for the real Wakeskate experience just in a larger size. By keeping a rocker very similar to a regular wakeskate we’ve been able to keep that snap and feel that is sorely needed for more advanced tricks (such as unhooked flip tricks), as such we do recommend you ride this board powered, in general you might need to ride 1-2m bigger in kite size than you would on a twin-tip or surfboard in the same conditions.
Thanks to everyone who supports the cause and rides a skate!
